Partnerships + Sponsors 🌊A quick word from Z on the Gold Coast Launch! When long time Brisbane Basketball Member Don Mander moved to Gold Coast, he thought it would be hard to make the Brisbane games in the future. But, that same week we launched our first ever GC game in conjunction with the amazing InvestFest event from Cohort, QIC, and the Gold Coast Council. Mark ‘Z’ Zmarzly | Mary to the World 🌏️ Game-changing movement orchestrated by our fellow ballers Daniel, Harry, Luke and Rowan with Mary Technology!! Don’t Delegate, Zeligate! Brisbane baller Denver Naidoo may not know what a moving screen is (or maybe he does and just doesn’t care - Foul!!!) but he sure knows a lot about GenAI and has 5.5M proof points after raising more capital to revolutionize the way people leverage AI to increase their productivity. |
SportsTech 💨 🦾
AWS + Baron Davis + Jim @ QuantPS 🤯
Another fellow baller - Jim, recently had a beautiful experience in the states, hear it from the man himself below:
Almost a month to the day … from Ballarat to Sydney to San Francisco and LA for their Tech Week(s), one of the highlights for us at QuantPS was thanks to Mark "Z” Zmarzly; an invite to the sold out AWS LA Tech Week Fireside Chat featuring NBA Legend Baron Davis and hosted by Nikao Yang.
For those who love ‘the game’, Baron led the Golden State Warriors in their legendary 2007 playoff upset, is a two-time NBA All-Star and one of the most electrifying point guards to ever play.
From growing up in South Central Los Angeles in the 80s and 90s, to a full scholarship at UCLA, to the NBA and now into the startup world, building on a legacy of innovation, hustle and hard work.
I got a lot out of Baron’s story. Nikao asked all the right questions and really got to the core of the tech and non-tech businesses he's involved in, including Vitaminwater, the WNBA, a college savings app called UNest, Kitu Super Coffee, Hims, Triller, Sleeper, Thrive, H1, Cann Drinks, Tracklib, Quip (Blue Scorpion), Complex, Task Human, Toucan, and Vidy.
The fireside showed us that success is about vision and heart as much as skill—whether you’re an NBA All-Star or an Australian Fintech startup/scaleup. It was inspiring to see how he’s taken his drive and experience from sports to shape a meaningful impact in tech and culture. My biggest take aways, his journey is a reminder to stay true to first principles and never underestimate the power of humble beginnings.
Morgan Stanley opens the gates for high net worth sports fans 🤑 🥳
The almost century old investment bank’s wealth management division recently announced the launch of the “Parametric Custom Core Sports League strategy.”
Aimed at high net worth sports fans, and requiring a minimum investment of $250,000 - Morgan Stanley seeks to allow investment into a curated index of companies holding strong ties with the most prominent sports leagues in the US across advertising, media, sponsorships and more!
Cool to see entertainment ventures becoming integral components of investment strategies.

Think it’s too late for a career shift into startups?? 🧐
Think again - The head coach of Kentucky’s Men’s Basketball team had an unlikely career pivot at 37 from medicine to coaching. Of course he played ball and is 6’ 10” tall so maybe it wasn’t unlikely.
